The last of the pomegranates

This is from a pomegranate bush growing in my front garden. Every year this bush has hundreds of these "chinese apples" and never have I been able to eat a whole one...very very sour.

Chapel of Memories

This church was built in 1917, originally called St. Catherine's Church. I like the new name much better. It is located in Sam Hicks (another story for another day) Monument Park. One interesting fact it that it was built from money from a BBQ fundraiser.

Closed Thanksgiving Day

I rarely eat fast food, and when I do it has to be worth it. I can sincerely say that the last time I ate at a place like McDonalds it was about 15 years ago. Today, after a very long ride to and from Los Angeles, I stopped at my favorite fast food joint; In-and-Out. They are courteous, fast, and there are only about 4 choices on the hamburger menu and all of them good. Oh, and they really take care of their employees...they are closed on turkey day.

Only time will heal

Today, I went for my monthly haircut, and it was the first time in 15 years that my barber Jim was not available. You see, earlier this week Jim's 29 year old son passed away from complications with pneumonia. Temecula DP offers its most sincere condolenses to Jim and his family for their lost.

So, who cut my hair? The ever elegant and gracious Peggy Sue, Thank You.

In every corner

It seems like only a little while ago the first Starbucks moved into town. Now they are all over the city, in numerous corners, at the mall, and this one located inside a supermarket. Once in a while, I do feel like drinking a $2 cup of coffee, and the only regret that I have is not investing earlier in the company.

Low fuel prices - disappearing

Since I am new to this, I did not get the messeage of the daily photo theme. I hope I am not too late? This was the peak of the fuel prices in Temecula this year. By the way the price at the very bottom covered by the bush is for diesel fuel.

Reserve

The weekend seems to be the time when home developers give an extra push to sell houses. This is a normal occurance throughout the southland (Southern California) and Tememecula is no exception. To get their message accross and to point people traveling to and fro to their houses they employ teenagers. These teens stand on street corners holding banners, some dance, the banner is usually in the form of an arrow pointing the way. This one such case. I will try to bring other corners and different faces in later posts. This photo was taken on the SW corner of Margarita Rd. and Pauba Rd.

Stubborn

Our winters are very mild, where the temperature will average in the 70's, and rarely dropping into the 40's. Many trees will follow the seasonal cycle, turning to their beautiful fall colors and eventually loosing their foliage. Others will remain green year round, I call this stubborn trees. This photo was taken right outside my house.

Stew is running

I have not idea who Stew is, but I do know that he is running for Temecula City Council. I also know that Stew is a barber.

Moments after taking this shot the man himself passed by in the car you see below. I ran to take his picture, but by the time I got there he has disappeared into the supermarket. I didn't wait.

Don't know what this is?

Like the title says, I am not sure what this is. It looks like some kind of boiler, or BBQ, or water pump. Anyway, I am doing my research and will let you know as soon as I find out. This is located at the South end of Old Town Temecula.

Naked

Temecula is considered the wine region of Southern California. This shot was taken at Thorton Winery earlier in the year when the vines are basically naked of all leaves and fruit. The handsome fellow in the photo is my nephew Manny visiting from New Jersey.
